History

Beginnings:

In 1975 four Winona families were meeting weekly for Bible Study, prayer, and fellowship with the hope that someday God might use them to raise up a new church in the city. By July, growth had created the “unofficial” church known as Berean Baptist Fellowship.

Early in 1977, the group became an official church and was known as Berean Believers Church of Winona, MN. The church continued to experience significant growth over the next five years.

CBC Appears:

In 1982 the church moved to the Lincoln Christian Community Center where they would remain for five years. In 1984 the church was re-named Community Bible Church. In 1987, CBC purchased the church building and house located at 901 West Broadway.

In 2002, Community Bible Church welcomed its current Worship and Community Groups Pastor, Craig Hensel. Craig and his worship teams continue to grow musically and bring diversity in the musical experience found here at CBC. He also coordinates and developes our community groups.

In 2007, Community Bible Church welcomed its current Speaking Pastor, Waldean Wall. Wally provides relevant, real life, thought provoking messages.

CBC Moves:

CBC left 901 West Broadway due to it not being adequate for accommodating growth and the expansion of ministry. In 2006, CBC purchased the property at 69 East Third Street (former Sylvester’s Total Fitness) in downtown Winona. CBC moved to its new location and is working on being church in a whole new way.

Construction Begins:

The first phase of renovating has begun. New stairs, office space, roof, air exchangers, and elevator are in the first phase of renovation. CBC is excited to see what God has in store for us and how He will use us to reach out and better the Winona community. We are working towards being people who are out engaging and serving our community. The new building will be used as a tool to fulfill that goal.
